FATVILLAGE ARTS DISTRICT AND WHOLE FOODS MARKET – FORT LAUDERDALE PARTNER TO BUILD THE ARTS IN FORT LAUDERDALE

 

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – FATVillage (Flagler Arts and Technology Village) will be the beneficiary of Whole Foods Market - Fort Lauderdale’s community 5% Day on Wednesday, September 3, 2015, during the stores operating hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. During the event, Whole Foods Market-Fort Lauderdale, located at 2000 North Federal Highway, will donate a total of 5-percent of the day’s net sales to FATVillage. The community is encouraged to help support FATVillage by shopping at Whole Foods Market - Fort Lauderdale on this day.

 

The FATVillage Arts District, located one block west of Andrews Avenue between NE 5th and NE 6th Streets, continues to grow as a place for the community to experience and create contemporary artwork. FATVillage hosts a monthly Artwalk that occurs on the last Saturday of each month that draws a diverse crowd of approximately 3000 art enthusiasts. Home to individual artist studios, galleries, theatres, an art school and many creative businesses, FATVillage has become the hub of Fort Lauderdale’s flourishing art scene.

 

Whole Foods Market’s 5% Day is a meaningful way for the company to give back to the community. Donations received from the event will be used to support the FATVillage Projects’ Contemporary Art Space in their efforts to expand programming including: exhibitions, lectures and workshops. FATVillage is a recipient of a 2015 Knight Arts Challenge Grant, so all donations earned on this day will be matched dollar for dollar by the Knight Foundation. Representatives from FATVillage will be on-site with information about The Projects and the Village.
